Who We Are

About Priority2Work (rev Nov 2025)

Priority2Work can trace its history back to two great Christian-based non-profit organizations which provided pro-active job search skills training, career counseling and support for people who are unemployed, under-employed or experiencing career transition. The first organization, Priority Two, started over 40 years ago in Sewickley helping those affected by the closing of the steel mills. In the 1990’s it moved to Northway Christian Community where it continued its ministry to people in the North Hills, Pittsburgh, and beyond.

The second organization that makes up Priority2Work was called Discover H.O.P.E. Here (DHH). DHH was founded at St. Ferdinand’s Church in Cranberry Township in 2009. It started with 10 participants and quickly grew, supporting over 50 people in need.

In 2016, both Priority Two and Discover HOPE Here merged and are proud to be known as Priority2Work. With our new brand and proven success, we believe that we are well-positioned to provide services for people of all belief systems in a positive atmosphere of compassion and concern.

Recognizing the importance and value of each individual in job search, Priority2Work helps participants identify gifts, talents, skills, interests and attributes, provides additional job search skills as needed, and prepares individuals to market and deliver value within the workplace.

Priority2Work supports job seekers through state-of-the-art job search training programs that include lectures, readings, small group work, interactive discussions, role-playing and more.

Priority2Work provides all job seekers – from those entering the workforce for the first time to those transitioning from senior-level professional positions – with the search skills needed to “find the job that is right for you.

Networking for jobs is a critical part of every job seeker’s strategy. At Priority2Work we provide an excellent venue for learning and practicing the art of networking.

Since 2020 many of our programs have transitioned to virtual ZOOM meetings.  See calendar of events for registration information.

Her current role consists of identifying gaps and implementing standard processes to acquire, transfer, dispose and manage software. Together with her team these processes have produced a cost avoidance exceeding $135M. She accomplishes this by building bridges to key stakeholders and partnering with them to close gaps in software processes. Karen shepherds a software 101 education program to teach the basics of software licensing. She believes educating one’s stakeholders is key to establishing a solid SAM program. Karen participates in the development and publication of ITAM policies, standards, and procedures. She provides guidance, mentorship, and leadership to her team of seven direct reports.

Her career started as a developer until she got a taste of IT infrastructure during one of her software projects. From then on, she spent the majority of her career running IT infrastructure projects in the manufacturing space. An opportunity was presented to leave her technical career to develop a Software Asset Management program for the manufacturing company. She accepted the challenge even though she knew she was leaving behind a much loved career path. With a quick taste of Software Asset Management Karen knew she made the right decision. This switch allows her to marry her technical knowledge with software contracts and process management. It was a perfect combo that never made Karen look back. She has enjoyed many years of Software Asset Management responsibilities as there is always something new and interesting to challenge her.

Karen earned a BS in Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh, a MS in Information Science concentrating in Telecommunications from the University of Pittsburgh and an MBA from Duquesne University.
